about MTC
Murwillumbah Theatre Company is a ‘not for profit’ community theatre group operating for 21 years and providing cultural opportunities for the Tweed community through live theatre. All productions are undertaken on a volunteer basis, using local skills. MTC usually puts on 4 - 5 productions each year including an end of year pantomime. Many members have considerable skills and experience in theatre. They not only provide the basis for good theatre productions, but also a considerable resource for training. In addition to acting, each production requires people skilled in directing, costumes, stage management, set design and construction, sound, lighting, front of house, publicity, and writing. New members are always welcome to join MTC and can do so by completing the contact form on this website.Whilst MTC is a ‘community theatre’ we strive to achieve professional standards. MTC is not just a bunch of locals who want to stage amateur theatricals.
Comments from patrons about our performances are overwhelmingly very positive. Some of the responses from audience members are as follows:
“Well cast, great sets and costumes and excellent direction” (Money and Friends, May 2008)
“Pleasing to see so many members of the community so involved and enjoying themselves” (‘Allo ‘Allo, March 2009)
“Very impressed. Brought back some great memories. Keep up the good work” (‘Allo ‘Allo, March 2009)
“ Very entertaining. Some great talent in the Tweed. Thank you for a great evening at an excellent price” (Thank Goodness You Are Here, Feb 2009)
