It started with a conversation over coffee.......
Initially, Lydia just laughed at Bryanne's proposal but then stated that, if she was to direct, it would be 'A Midsummer's Nights Dream'. An interesting choice given MTC had never produced Shakespeare, though they have produced many other comedies with great success. Lydia thought no more of the conversation, but Bryanne (never one to let grass grow under her feet) immediately put a proposal forward to the theatre company, that they should produce their first play by Shakespeare. It was agreed upon, dates were set and, much to her surprise, Lydia was duly informed.
And so we now arrive close to the time that auditions will be held shortly. All of the thought and planning that goes into staging a professional production has begun. How should the set look? How will it be constructed? What will the actors wear? What should the poster look like? How do we promote this play?
We have started this blog so that you might follow the process. Enjoy and please feel free to comment and share the content.
